Generator Maintenance Plans in Waco, TX

A standby unit is only as good as its last service. Our maintenance plans keep the battery, oil, fuel pressure, and self-test cycle verified — so the machine starts on the one day you bought it for.

Signs Your Standby Unit Is Overdue

It has not been touched since the install

Plenty of units installed after February 2021 have never had a service visit. Oil, filters, and batteries age on the calendar whether or not the unit ever runs.

You stopped noticing the exercise cycle

The weekly self-test is easy to tune out — until it quietly stops happening. If you cannot say when it last ran, that is exactly what a maintenance visit checks.

It just sat through a full Texas summer

Months of radiant heat off a pad degrade the battery faster than the label admits. A unit that idled through August needs its battery health verified before winter.

You need the paperwork

Commercial policies, inspections, and even home sales increasingly ask for documented upkeep. Our visits produce a written record, not a verbal all-clear.

Why Upkeep Matters More in Central Texas

The local climate sets the service schedule more than the owner's manual does:

Heat shortens component life

Batteries and oil age faster through long Central Texas summers than manufacturer intervals assume. We service to the climate, not just the manual.

Two must-start seasons a year

ERCOT stress arrives in August heat and in winter cold. A smart service calendar lands ahead of both windows, so the unit is proven before the grid gets interesting.

Pads settle on Blackland clay

Every visit includes a look at pad settlement and the flexible gas connection, because moving soil is how a healthy unit develops a fuel-pressure fault between services.

How the Job Works

  1. Inspection and self-test verification

Battery load test, charger check, controller and alarm history review, fuel pressure reading, and confirmation the weekly exercise cycle is actually running.

  2. Written findings before any extra work

The plan covers the service visit itself. If we find something beyond it, you get the finding and the price in writing — nothing extra happens without your approval.

  3. The service itself

Oil and filter changes, battery replacement when testing calls for it, controller settings, gas connection and pad check, and a transfer-switch exercise.

  4. Documentation and the next date

A written service record for your file or your insurer, the next visit on the calendar, and a 1-year labor warranty on the work performed.

What Sets a Plan Price

Plan pricing is flat and put in writing before you enroll — no surprise line items at the visit. What sets it:

Unit size and configuration

A small air-cooled home standby unit is a different service scope than a large liquid-cooled machine, and kW class drives consumables and time.

Residential vs. commercial scope

Commercial plans add load-bank testing, exercise-cycle documentation, and reporting that insurers and inspectors expect.

Visit cadence

Annual service fits most homes; semi-annual visits ahead of summer and winter fit commercial sites and households that depend on medical equipment.

You approve the price before any paid work starts. Diagnosis comes first, then written repair options — no surprise add-ons at the end of the visit.

Our sink was leaking, so Falcon 5 Plumbing responded to our AHS request for service. The response was almost immediate and our technician came out that day. Within a few hours, we had a new sink installed. He was very professional considerate, and did a great job.

Had a last minute emergency. Amazing response from the owner himself and came out to save the day. If you're looking for a true honest HVAC/plumbing company, give them a call.

Needed a gas line run for my generator. Falcon 5 came and took care of it. They're honest on time and very reasonably priced.

Straight Answers, Before You Call

How often does a standby unit need service?

Annually at minimum for a home unit, and semi-annually for commercial sites or homes with medical equipment — ideally timed ahead of summer and winter, the two seasons the Texas grid gets tested. Run hours add visits: a unit that carried the house through a multi-day event needs attention afterward.

What does a maintenance visit actually include?

Battery load test, charger and controller check, alarm history review, oil and filter service, fuel-pressure reading, a look at the pad and gas connection, transfer-switch exercise, and verification of the weekly self-test schedule. You get the findings in writing.

My unit exercises weekly — is that not enough?

No, and this is the most expensive misconception in standby power. The self-test typically runs the engine without transferring the load, so it proves very little about the battery's remaining margin, fuel pressure under demand, or the transfer switch. Units that exercised faithfully still no-start when the battery finally quits.

Will you maintain a unit another company installed?

Yes — Generac, Kohler, Briggs & Stratton, and most other standby lines. The first visit establishes a baseline: what shape it is in, what the alarm history says, and what it needs. From there it goes on the same plan as our own installs.
